About Laurie

laurieI am a busy Freelance Writer, Blogger and Marketing/Public Relations professional. After two decades as the Marketing and Public Relations Director for Stage West Theatre Restaurants in Canada, I turned my dream into reality in 2014 when I started my own company and relaunched my career as a freelance journalist/corporate communicator and public relations/marketing professional. It was the best thing I ever did! (career wise)

My forte is feature writing for magazines, covering the good things in life—food, wine, fashion, design, real estate and travel. Yes, I am one of those lucky people who travel to exotic destinations and get to write about my experiences. Most of all, I like to write stories about people who inspire others. Whether it be a feature story on a well known celebrity or a corporate profile on a business leader, I listen, I write and I share a story about what makes them tick. I take that same enthusiasm I have as a journalist and use it to develop stories, blogs, copy or content for my clients.  A media release is not just words on a paper, it is an invitation or inspiration to tweak a journalist’s attention to follow up on a lead because it’s a good story.  As a journalist and public relations professional, I have experience on both sides of the fence. I know what media wants and I know how to deliver it when it comes to media and public relations.

My clients have important things to say and I help them say it—in print, online, in a blog or as part of a marketing and public relations campaign. Clients talk, I listen and together we make magic happen—on line, in print, on a website.  It can be a one-off project like writing a media release and getting it into the hands of the right people to get coverage, or designing an entire marketing/communications plan.

Writing is my passion. When I was a kid, I wrote notes to my Dad every day and hid them amongst the bologna or egg salad sandwiches in his lunch box. My dad worked near the steel mills in Hamilton. He told me that finding those little notes in his lunchbox made his day. He said I made his smile. That’s what I like to do for my clients. Make them smile. Get them noticed. Tell their story in their way, in my words.

Let me help you create high quality stories for your company.  Let’s chat about how we can work together to get your message out there and into the right hands.
